You should not be here next week: Tropical cyclone not so Funso

20/01/12 - 00:00:00AM ~ By Zigzag ~

Newly formed tropical storm Funso is sitting bang in the middle of the Mozambique channel, and the forecast predicts it will form into an intense tropical cyclone in the next 96 hours. Previously going by the less personal name of "Tropical Cyclone 08S", the cyclone looks set to bring more misery to the coastal dwellers of southern Mocambique.

Currently the charts are predicing winds of up to 140kmh and 11m+ swells in the area just south of Bazaruto, provided the cyclone follows its predicted track.

If you've ever looked at those point breaks and sand spits on google earth along that stretch of coast, now is probably the time not to go.

Question
Should fishermen be allowed to pull a trek net through the lineup and bathing area at Surfer’s Corner in Muizenberg?

Yes, people’s lives depend on it (food). The surfers and bathers have alternatives.

No, people’s lives depend on it (shark attacks). The fishermen have alternatives.

No opinion either way, don’t care, doesn’t make a difference to the universe, etc.
