Email of the week - a Boland anomaly comes to life for buddies Phil Nel & Tommy Kruger

20/01/12 - 00:00:00AM ~ By Zigzag ~

There are few things more rewarding than scoring a fickle spot firing. It probably has to do with the fact that you've had to put in the time watching the charts, looking for those rare combinations of wind and swell to co-incide, along with a good number of failed strategic strikes when things didn't quite line up.

Earlier this week Zag received the below email from Somerset West surfer, Phil Nel, along with the attached photos, detailing just such a session at a fickle Boland corner he and buddy Tommy Kruger scored to themselves:

Phil squeezes into a small barrel along the inside sandbank.

Tommy punctuates another cooking ride with a solid air.

Phil on a cracker.

Tommy drives for the shoulder.

Question
Should fishermen be allowed to pull a trek net through the lineup and bathing area at Surfer’s Corner in Muizenberg?

Yes, people’s lives depend on it (food). The surfers and bathers have alternatives.

No, people’s lives depend on it (shark attacks). The fishermen have alternatives.

No opinion either way, don’t care, doesn’t make a difference to the universe, etc.
