Rip Curl supports KZN Wildlife Federation in massive coastal clean up on Sat 18

Feedback from KZN Wildlife federation for the International Clean up day on the weekend:


Saturday the 18th September dawned with no wind and overcast skies, making for ideal beach cleanup weather. Through the dedicated efforts of staff and honorary officers this year saw 6547 enthusiastic volunteers participating in one of the largest volunteer efforts in South Africa on behalf of the marine environment. Together they removed 29 820 kg’s of litter from our beaches, reefs, estuaries, rivers and catchments.

Distance Covered:
- Coast:  420 Km’s (Port Edward – Kosi Bay)
- Estuaries / Rivers:  367 Km’s (Umkomaas, Umzimkulu, Tugela,)
- Underwater:  1 Km (Sodwana, Aliwal Shoal, Vetchies Pier)
 
Bags of Litter Collected:  17 467
Estimated Kg’s: 29 820 Kg’s
